The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) states that insulation installers and contractors must be trained in safety procedures, such as wearing masks or respirators and working in well-ventilated areas when possible. This training session will provide an introduction to insulation, basic instructions on how to properly and safely install fiberglass and mineral wool insulation, and will address the issues of hermetic sealing and insulation of walls, attics, and floors. Blow insulation system contractors supervise insulating material installers, who use specialized equipment to insert insulation products into attics and between walls to control temperatures. Installing attic insulation requires workers to be in good physical shape, as they may be moving heavy objects in hazardous conditions.
The Insulation Contractors Association of America (ICAA) represents small and large insulation contractors who install all types of thermal and acoustic insulation. The North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) is dedicated to focusing all its efforts on promoting energy efficiency and environmental preservation through the use of fiberglass and mineral wool insulation. The National Insulation Association offers a voluntary two-day certification program for insulating energy appraisers to promote the use of energy-efficient insulation products. State workforce development departments and local insulation companies can be helpful in finding local learning programs. The more familiar an insulation installer becomes with the ins and outs of other areas of the construction field, the better he can work with professionals in the workplace.
The Insulation Contractors Association of the United States (ICAA) is a nonprofit trade association and the only national voice representing residential and commercial insulation contractors. Insulation installation companies must provide their workers with comprehensive training programs that include hands-on training, classroom lectures on techniques for installing blow insulators, reading plans, and using equipment. Additionally, when insulating attics with loosely filled insulating material, the attic rules must be installed so that there is one for each attic.
